Flashing LEDs Built to Last

Every flashing LED lanyard is assembled and tested at our Shenzhen facility. The flashing pattern is not an add-on feature — it is a core function of the microcontroller firmware. Because we design the PCB and write the firmware in-house, the flash timing is consistent across every unit in the batch.

Each lanyard undergoes a flash test during QC: all 4 modes are cycled, all 7 colors are verified, and the button response is checked. Units that fail the flash test are rejected before packing. For batch consistency, we test random samples from each production run to confirm flash frequency stays within 5% of the target specification.

Does the flashing mode affect battery life significantly? +
Flashing modes actually extend battery life compared to steady-on mode. Because the LED is off for part of each flash cycle, the average power consumption is lower. Slow flash (1 Hz) uses approximately 50% less power than steady-on. Fast flash (3 Hz) uses about 30% less. Strobe mode (10 Hz) uses roughly the same as steady-on due to the rapid switching. Fade mode uses slightly less than steady-on. In all cases, the battery runtime ranges from 8 to 12 hours depending on the model and brightness setting.
Can the flash speed be adjusted or customized? +
The 4 built-in flash modes cover the standard range (1 Hz slow, 3 Hz fast, 10 Hz strobe, and smooth fade). For custom flash speeds or unique sequences, firmware programming is available. Custom patterns can define any frequency between 0.5 Hz and 20 Hz, with custom brightness ramps and color sequences. Custom firmware requires a minimum order of 200 units and is loaded during production.
Are flashing LED lanyards suitable for outdoor daytime use? +
Flashing LED lanyards are visible in daylight, but the effect is strongest in low-light, dusk, or indoor environments. In direct sunlight, the LED brightness is visible at close range (up to 5 meters) but the flashing effect is less dramatic. For daytime outdoor events, we recommend using fast flash mode (3 Hz) for maximum visibility. The GFH-003 round medal with 10 perimeter LEDs provides the highest brightness for outdoor use.
Can I set different flash modes for different groups at the same event? +
Yes. Using the GFC005 DMX transmitter or GFC008 APP transmitter, you can assign different flash modes to different groups. For example: VIP section uses slow fade, general admission uses fast flash cycling through colors, and staff uses solid red. The zone control is configured at the transmitter level — lanyards are pre-assigned a group ID during production, and the transmitter sends the appropriate command to each group simultaneously.
What is the difference between blinking and flashing? +
In the context of LED lanyards, both terms describe the same function: the LED turning on and off in a repeated pattern. Some industries use "blinking" for slower patterns (1-2 Hz) and "flashing" for faster patterns (3+ Hz), but the hardware supports both interchangeably. The 4 built-in modes include a slow "blinking" pattern (1 Hz) and a fast "flashing" pattern (3 Hz), plus strobe (10 Hz) and fade. You can refer to them by whichever term your audience understands best.
Do flashing LED lanyards comply with safety regulations for events? +
Yes. All GFLAI LED lanyards carry FCC, CE, and RoHS certifications. The flashing LED output is within safe limits — the LEDs are standard low-power surface-mount components, not high-intensity strobes. The product does not produce any visible flicker that could trigger photosensitive epilepsy in normal use (the strobe mode at 10 Hz is below the 15-20 Hz range typically associated with photosensitive risk). However, we recommend notifying attendees if strobe mode will be used during the event, as standard best practice.
