The difference between synced and unsynced lanyards is immediately visible. Without sync, each wearer controls their own color — the audience looks like a random scatter of lights. Every GFLAI LED lanyard is designed for synchronization from the component level. The RF receiver module, LED driver circuit, and battery management system are selected and tested to respond consistently to the same signal — regardless of whether the order is 200 units or 50,000 units.

Sync Lanyard Questions

Can the same lanyard use different sync methods at different events? +
Yes. The lanyard hardware is compatible with all transmitters. If you start with RF remote control for a small event, the same lanyards can later be used with DMX512 or APP control for larger productions. Only the transmitter needs to change — the lanyards remain the same. This is a common approach for events that scale over time or tour across venues with different technical capabilities.
How do I sync lanyards with the music or stage lighting? +
With the GFC005 DMX transmitter, connect it to your lighting console and program lanyard cues into your existing show file alongside your stage lighting. The console handles timing — including audio timecode sync if your console supports it. The lanyards respond to DMX values within milliseconds, so music-synced color changes are achieved through the console's existing effects engine.
Can I sync only part of the audience (e.g., VIP section)? +
Yes, through zone control. Lanyards are assigned to different DMX channel groups or APP groups at the factory. VIP section lanyards respond to one set of commands, general admission to another, and staff to a third. A single GFC005 or GFC008 transmitter broadcasts all commands, and each lanyard responds only to its assigned group. This allows different audience sections to display different colors simultaneously.
What happens if some lanyards are out of range of the transmitter? +
Lanyards that are out of range will maintain their last received color and brightness. Once they come back within range, they receive the current command and sync with the group. The RF signal covers a 250-meter radius, which is sufficient for most venues. For larger venues or obstructed sightlines, multiple GFC005 units can be positioned across the venue and controlled from a single console via DMX splitters.
Can attendees sync their own lanyard with a friend's using the APP? +
Yes, with the GFC008 APP transmitter, attendees can choose their lanyard color from the branded mobile app. While the event organizer retains overall control (including group color changes), individual attendees can set their lanyard to any available color. This creates a shared interactive experience — groups of friends can coordinate colors manually, and the organizer can still trigger synchronized moments during key program points.
How do I test sync reliability before the event? +
We recommend ordering pre-production samples with your chosen sync method. Test the range, latency, and zone configuration in your venue or a similar environment. For DMX setups, we provide a test script that cycles through all assigned channels. For RF remote, a simple walk test confirms coverage. Our technical support team is available for live video call during setup and rehearsal.
